Anastasia Marshall jailed for helping lover cover up her wifes death

The former wife of murdered South Australian woman Krystal Marshall has been jailed for helping her secret lover cover up the killing — but could be released as early as May next year.

Anastasia Marshall was sentenced to one year and 11 months in prison on Friday after admitting she helped Jonathan Parker cover up Krystal’s death and avoid police.

Krystal’s charred body was found inside her Aldinga Beach home in October 2023.

Her mother, Maureen Brown, clutched a photograph of her daughter outside court as she struggled to come to terms with the sentence.

“I just want everyone to know, this is my daughter, my baby,” Brown said.

“And now it’s all finished, it’s nothing.”

Brown said she did not believe justice had been done.

“At the moment, I’ve got nothing in me… I’m dead,” she said.

The court heard Parker was Anastasia Marshall’s secret lover.

Sentencing Marshall, the judge said she had chosen to align herself with Parker despite knowing what had happened to Krystal.

“You had every opportunity to go to the police … you did not … instead you lied and attempted to assist Mr Parker in covering up Krystal’s death,” the judge said.

During his Supreme Court murder trial, Parker took the stand and accused his secret lover, Anastasia Marshall, of killing Krystal.

Marshall will be eligible to apply for parole in May next year.

Outside court, Brown thanked those who had supported her family throughout the case.

“I’d like to thank everyone that was involved with the case, the kindness that they gave us, and the understanding,” she said.

A verdict in Parker’s murder trial is yet to be delivered.
