Al Dhabi Women’s Ice Hockey Team were crowned champions of the Mega Ice Hockey 5 Women’s Tournament in Hong Kong after a golden-goal win over WIHO Elite Hong Kong.
The UAE side beat the hosts in the final to secure the Women’s Division A title, closing a campaign in which they came through matches against five teams.
The result adds another marker for women’s ice hockey in the UAE, with Al Dhabi representing Abu Dhabi on a stage featuring clubs from across Asia.
Team manager Khalid Al Habsi said the team’s discipline and consistency had shaped the run to the title. He also pointed to their teamwork throughout the tournament as a key part of the success.
Al Habsi praised the support of Abu Dhabi Winter Games Club, saying the result showed the progress being made by women’s ice hockey in the UAE.
The win will give the team further belief as the sport continues to grow in Abu Dhabi and across the country.
