Adelaide is in for a cool, unsettled week, with showers drifting through today and tomorrow before a brief lull gives way to a wetter finish to the weekend and start of next week.
Today will stay partly cloudy across Adelaide, with a medium chance of showers and a top of 19 degrees in the city. Rainfall totals are expected to stay light, but a shower or two is enough to keep outdoor plans a little uncertain. Light winds should stop things from feeling too blustery, and metro areas including Elizabeth, Glenelg and Noarlunga are all set for similar top temperatures, while Mount Barker will be cooler at 17 degrees.
Wednesday looks much the same, with another partly cloudy day and a medium chance of showers, most likely through the morning and afternoon. Adelaide’s temperature will dip to a chilly 10 degrees overnight before reaching 19 degrees again. By Thursday, conditions ease slightly. The city is heading for a partly cloudy day with only a slight chance of a shower, though patches of morning fog could affect early commutes. Thursday’s top is expected to be 18 degrees after a minimum of 11.
Friday brings cloudier conditions, with showers becoming more likely in the afternoon and evening as winds shift around from north to northwesterly, then west to northwesterly later in the day. Adelaide is forecast to reach 19 degrees, with up to 4mm possible.
The wettest part of the seven-day outlook arrives across the weekend and into Monday. Saturday is expected to be partly cloudy with a very high chance of showers and westerly winds at 15 to 25 km/h. A top of 18 degrees is forecast, with between 2 and 8mm of rain possible. Sunday stays cool, reaching 17 degrees, with showers likely in the morning before easing later in the day.
Looking ahead to Monday, Adelaide can expect another active weather day. Showers are very likely, rainfall could reach 15mm, and there is also the chance of thunderstorms about the hills and southern suburbs. Temperatures will lift slightly to around 20 degrees, but stronger northerly to northwesterly winds will add to the sense of a changeable start to June.
Across regional South Australia, showers will spread across most districts today, with the far north the least likely to see much rain. Isolated thunderstorms are possible over Eyre Peninsula, Flinders and the southern parts of the pastoral districts, while morning fog patches may develop through central parts of the state. Through Wednesday and Thursday, showers become more isolated and gradually less frequent, though southern coasts and ranges are still likely to catch some patchy rain. Conditions remain cool, with maximum temperatures near to below average across much of the state.
By Friday, a new front pushes into western parts of SA, bringing isolated showers to western coasts and the southern agricultural area before they become more scattered along southern and central coasts. Rainfall totals through to the end of Friday are expected to be highest on Kangaroo Island, southern parts of Yorke and Fleurieu Peninsulas and the state’s southeast, where 15 to 30mm is forecast.
Happy Tuesday!
