Adelaide weather forecast for Sunday April 19 and the days ahead

Adelaide is shaping up for a fairly settled week after a showery start today, with mild autumn conditions giving way to warmer, sunnier weather across the city before the chance of rain returns by Saturday.

For the rest of Sunday, Adelaide can expect a partly cloudy day with a medium chance of showers during the morning and the possibility of a thunderstorm early on. Temperatures are set to reach 25 degrees in the city, with slightly warmer conditions in Elizabeth at 27 degrees, while Glenelg and Noarlunga top out at 24. Winds will shift noticeably through the day, starting from the north to northeasterly before turning west to northwesterly around midday, then moving south to southeasterly by late afternoon. That means a changeable feel across the metro area, particularly for anyone heading out early.

The week then settles down quickly. Monday will start cool with a low of 13 degrees, and while there may be some lingering cloud early, skies are expected to clear for a top of 24 degrees. By Tuesday, Adelaide moves into a much brighter pattern, with mostly sunny conditions and a warmer maximum of 28 degrees. Northeasterly winds will help lift temperatures, making it one of the nicest days of the week for getting outdoors.

Wednesday stays mostly sunny, although temperatures ease slightly to 25 degrees after an overnight minimum of 18. A wind change through the day, from northerly to southwesterly and then east to southeasterly, will bring a cooler edge later on. Sunshine continues on Thursday with a crisp morning low of 13 and a pleasant top of 27 degrees.

By Friday, temperatures climb again, reaching 29 degrees under mostly sunny skies. It looks set to be the warmest day of the seven-day stretch, with north to northeasterly winds adding to that late-autumn warmth. Saturday brings the next shift, with cloud increasing and a medium chance of showers later in the day. The forecast top is 27 degrees after a mild overnight minimum of 18, so it should still be comfortable, but anyone with Anzac Day plans will want to keep an eye on the timing of any late showers.

Across South Australia, today’s weather is being shaped by a weakening cold front moving east, bringing isolated showers and possible thunderstorms through agricultural districts this morning, while southern coasts may continue to see isolated showers into the afternoon. Conditions remain dry elsewhere. On Monday and Tuesday, much of the state settles under the influence of a ridge, with morning fog patches in southern areas and generally dry weather. Temperatures are expected to sit above average in western parts of the state and around average to slightly below average in the east and northeast.

By Wednesday, light showers are possible again around southern coastal districts, mainly in the morning, while most inland areas stay dry. Rainfall totals through to the end of Wednesday are expected to remain low, generally up to 2 mm across the agricultural area and West Coast district, with 2 to 5 mm possible near southern coasts and ranges, and isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm in the Lower South East.
