Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday April 25th and the days ahead

Adelaide is heading into a changing stretch of weather, with a warm Saturday giving way to showers and a cooler Sunday before sunnier, late-autumn conditions settle back in across the city through the working week.

Today is shaping up as the warmest day of the next week, with Adelaide reaching 29 degrees in the city. Cloud will build through the day, and while most of Saturday should stay dry, there’s a slight chance of a shower tonight as conditions shift. Winds will start out from the northwest to northeast at 20 to 30 km/h, tending northwesterly in the early afternoon before easing by evening. That will make for a noticeably breezy lead-in to the change, especially around the coast.

Sunday brings the coolest and wettest day of the week for Adelaide. Showers are likely, mainly during the morning, with a possible rainfall total of 0 to 6 mm and an 80 per cent chance of rain. There’s also the chance of an early morning thunderstorm before conditions begin to ease. After a mild overnight low of 14 degrees, the city is only expected to reach 21 degrees, with showers gradually clearing and winds shifting southwest before turning southeast to southwesterly during the afternoon.

From there, Adelaide’s weather steadies quite quickly. Monday may start with a little morning fog in places, but a sunny afternoon is on the cards with a top of 25 degrees and light winds. Tuesday continues the calmer pattern, with mostly sunny skies and a slightly warmer maximum of 26 degrees. It’s the kind of settled autumn weather many locals will welcome after the weekend’s brief interruption.

The warming trend continues into the second half of the week. Wednesday is forecast to be partly cloudy with temperatures climbing to 28 degrees, while easterly winds turn northeasterly during the day. By Thursday, Adelaide returns to full sunshine with a top of 29 degrees and northeasterly winds at 15 to 20 km/h. Friday looks much the same, with mostly sunny skies and another 29-degree day to round out the week.

Across South Australia, the broader picture is a cold front moving across the south on Saturday before clearing east early Sunday, followed by high pressure rebuilding and bringing more settled weather early next week. Showers are expected to develop about western and southern coastal districts on Saturday, reaching as far east as Adelaide by late evening. There is also a risk of isolated thunderstorms about the southern coastal fringe, Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and West Coast district, with localised rainfall totals of 5 to 10 mm possible with thunderstorms Saturday night and early Sunday morning, most likely about Lower Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and southern Yorke Peninsula.

Sunday will stay showery across much of the agricultural area before rain clears east during the day. Coastal districts may stay fresh and cool under southwest to southeasterly winds, while inland areas begin to settle. By Monday and Tuesday, much of regional SA turns drier and brighter, with only patchy morning fog about agricultural areas on Monday, mostly sunny skies inland, and temperatures lifting again by Tuesday, especially across the agricultural districts.

Happy Saturday!
