Adelaide weather forecast for Monday May 25 and the days ahead

Adelaide is in for a damp and chilly week, with showers set to linger through much of the city’s seven-day outlook before another burst of wetter weather arrives for the weekend.

South Australia’s current cold front and low pressure system are keeping temperatures below average to start the week, so locals can expect grey skies, cool afternoons and a few soggy commutes before conditions briefly settle later in the week.

Today will stay cloudy with a very high chance of showers across Adelaide, and the city is only expected to reach 17 degrees.

Winds will start from the north to northeasterly at 15 to 25 km/h before easing later in the afternoon, which should make the day feel calmer by evening even if showers continue.

Around the suburbs, Elizabeth, Glenelg and Noarlunga are all tipped to reach 17 degrees, while Mount Barker will be cooler at 15 degrees.

Tuesday brings a similar story, though a touch milder, with a top of 19 degrees and a high chance of showers. Light winds should keep things fairly still, but the chance of rain remains enough to keep the umbrella close at hand.

By Wednesday, Adelaide should begin to edge towards a more settled pattern, with partly cloudy skies and a medium chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon, before they clear later in the day. Temperatures will again top out at 19 degrees.

Thursday looks like the quietest day of the working week, with partly cloudy conditions, only a slight chance of a shower, and the possibility of morning fog about the hills.

Light winds will continue, and while the top stays at 19 degrees, it may feel a little more comfortable with less rain around.

That break doesn’t last long. Friday sees cloud increase again, along with a high chance of showers as north to northwesterly winds strengthen and then swing west to northwesterly during the day.

Saturday is shaping up as the wettest day of the seven-day stretch, with a very high chance of showers, westerly winds of 15 to 25 km/h, and a cooler maximum of 18 degrees.

Showers are then expected to continue into Sunday, when Adelaide stays partly cloudy with another high chance of rain and winds shifting from westerly to northerly later in the day.
