The parents of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke have alleged that the activist received a video threat warning him to join the BJP or face consequences for his family, forcing them to temporarily leave their home in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Speaking to a Marathi news channel on Wednesday, Dipke’s mother, Anita Dipke, claimed that the threat was received shortly after her son launched his satirical political movement. She said Abhijeet initially chose not to inform the family about the intimidation but later revealed that a video had warned him his parents would be targeted if he refused to join the BJP.
According to Anita Dipke, her son advised her not to watch the video and insisted that she and her husband leave home for their safety.
“He told us he was not afraid of such threats, but he was concerned because we were not used to dealing with such situations. He asked us to stay away from home for a few days,” she said.
Following his advice, the couple moved to a relative’s house in the Konkan region, where they remained for about 16 days.
She said Abhijeet was particularly worried because he was away from home at the time and his father, Bhagwan Dipke, suffers from low blood pressure.
The parents spoke to the news channel ahead of Abhijeet Dipke’s scheduled return to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after leading a 36-day protest in New Delhi over alleged irregularities in various examinations. The agitation eventually culminated in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Bhagwan Dipke said criticism is inevitable for those engaged in public life and social work.
“When you work for society, some people criticise you while others appreciate your efforts. There are those who react with a fixed mindset, while others take time to understand events before forming an opinion,” he said.
During the interaction, Anita Dipke also shared a lighter anecdote from her son’s younger days, describing him as someone who was more afraid of his father than anyone else.
She recalled an incident when Abhijeet had called a plumber for repairs, but the work went wrong and water flooded the house after a pipe was damaged. Knowing his father would be upset, he packed a few clothes and quietly left home hours before his scheduled trip to avoid confronting him.
“The repairs were completed immediately, but I didn’t tell his father what had happened for the next six months,” she said with a smile.
