Well, that escalated quickly. Losing a winnable game to the Jags in the final seconds hurt. Losing the starting quarterback to a surprise calf injury late in the week, while the offense is struggling, is painful. Losing Jalen Hurts for the rest of the season is a death sentence. This was certainly not how Howie and Nick drew it up, but these are the cards they’ve been dealt for the 2026 season, and unfortunately, it may be time to deal.

This team has a relatively young core, primarily on defense, but there is enough foundational talent to warrant a retooling, not a complete rebuild. The Eagles currently hold 8 picks in the 2027 draft and 4 picks in the first two rounds of the 2028 draft, thanks to the AJ Brown and Cam Jurgens trades. Given the state of the 2026 season, Howie Roseman will undoubtedly aim to accumulate more assets for his treasure chest. I presume Roseman will look to get younger and more financially flexible with this roster, so it’s official, like a Gamecocks QB, we’re sellers.

3. Landon Dickerson – Least Likely

I could easily argue that Dickerson is the Eagles’ most likely trade candidate at the trade deadline. He’s allegedly at odds with the Eagles over how they handled his IR designation and his subsequent soft benching. Like Jurgens, Dickerson’s past calendar year has been marred by lingering injuries and poor play. Lastly, he carries a cap hit of about $13 million next season and $17 million in 2028. See, easy.

However, for those same reasons the Eagles may want to move on; interested teams may decline the investment. Landon Dickerson hasn’t been the All-Pro guard we saw in 2024. Although teams sometimes bet on a player’s past rather than their present, I’m not sure any other team is desperate enough yet to give up anything for his services.

Possible Destination: Los Angeles Chargers

2. Moro Ojomo – Likely

For Ojomo, I teetered between “likely” and “most likely” based on the Eagles’ history with defensive linemen. Howie Roseman may have wanted to be a “quarterback factory,” but the Philadelphia Eagles have actually been a defensive line factory. Josh Sweat got paid. Milton Williams got paid. Jordan Davis got paid. Jalen Carter is the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history. The Eagles have gotten their defensive linemen paid, whether here or elsewhere.

Moro Ojomo is set to become a free agent and looks to be the next Eagles D-Line University graduate to get paid. Ojomo is the odd man out, just as Milton Williams was, and the 3rd DT on the depth chart typically doesn’t get extended. In Williams’ case, he was an integral piece to the dominant defense that blazed through the 2024 playoffs. Ojomo, on the other hand, is an expiring contract on a team dead in the water. His time as an Eagle will be coming to an end; it’s just a matter of how soon.

Possible Destination: Chicago Bears

3. Riq Woolen – Most Likely

Man, this one is going to hurt. Riq Woolen has been solid during his short tenure with the Eagles. Since Darius Slay left, the Eagles have been looking for a solid corner to pair with Quinyon Mitchell. Adoree Jackson was serviceable but nothing to write home about. We finally secured a dependable cornerback to complement Mitchell and DeJean, with remarkable size and coverage skills, and the season goes to waste before Week 7. It’s a Philly thing.

Woolen signed a one-year deal, so the writing was on the wall. He was a rental. He was likely to ball out or play well enough to earn a long-term contract in free agency in 2027. That timeline is now accelerated. Cornerback is typically a desired position at the deadline, and poaching a defensive player from under Vic Fangio is like shopping at a designer store.

Possible Destination: Detroit Lions

The trade deadline is less than a month away, and sadly, the Philadelphia Eagles are already clear sellers. Between Jalen’s injury, the abysmal Sean Mannion offense, and Lane Johnson’s sudden retirement, this may have been the worst Eagles October in recent memory. Hopefully the future holds some course correction, and that may start with offloading players and building with foresight.
