“On behalf of the Transit Police and the entire MBTA organization we offer our most sincere condolences to the decedent’s family and friends,” MBTA Transit Police said in a statement.

On Aug. 30, a 19-year-old died after falling onto the electrified third rail at the Forest Hills T station while trying to help his girlfriend, who had fallen onto the tracks. The MBTA is evaluating whether to install protective platform barriers at certain stations to prevent similar incidents.

An investigation into Sunday’s incident is ongoing, although foul play is not suspected, officials said.
