There was a picture by my bedroom window
Three trees
their leaves turned copper
the sun caught low between them
a strip of blue at the top
I knew that picture by heart
the crooked branch
the dark patch of trunk
even the small road disappearing
behind the last tree
Now it is autumn again
This morning, a leaf
caught on my window latch
I looked up
Three trees stood outside
and for a moment
the picture had moved
