At 19, Tenzing Norgay left for Darjeeling and discovered mountaineering. After six failed attempts to climb Everest, he finally reached the summit with Edmund Hillary in 1953.
But his journey didn’t end at Everest. For 22 years, he trained generations of climbers at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.
