A major accident was averted at a government girls’ primary school in Rajasthan’s Kotputli district on Tuesday after an LPG cylinder caught fire while food was being prepared, triggering panic among around 150 girls, school staff and others present on the premises. The gas cylinder burst into flames, triggering panic and prompting school staff and villagers to immediately intervene. The girls were first moved to a safe location, following which the staff and villagers joined efforts to remove the burning cylinder from the school building. After considerable effort, they managed to carry the cylinder outside the school premises and throw it into a nearby pond, bringing the fire under control. No girl or staff member was reported injured in the incident.
