On World Folklore Day, audiences are gearing up for The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest, an ambitious theatrical spectacle that combines fantasy, action, comedy and adventure. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and written by Arunabh Kumar, the film draws inspiration from Indian folklore, temples and cultural traditions. Arunabh has now revealed how his shared interest in Indian stories and temples with producer Ektaa Kapoor eventually led to the creation of the film.
World Folklore Day: Arunabh Kumar reveals how Ektaa Kapoor’s “mutual love for stories and temples” led to The Vvaan; says, “we realised how rich our Indian culture is”
Sharing the story behind the project, Arunabh wrote, “Happy World Folklore Day. It all started with our mutual love for stories and temples…from visiting Sidhivinayak on Jan 1st, to Mukteshwar on Mahashivratri, to Mahakumbh & what not.. and we realised how rich our Indian culture is with so many incredible Folklores which are as much history as mythology… and when I shared her the story of the folklore of Vandevi Temple in Bihta…she immediately said this story needs to be told on the big screen…and went all out in giving it as big a canvas as possible, I feel there could not have been a better partner than EK & @balajimotionpictures for such a story…”
Arunabh also spoke about the personal connection he shares with the story and the role of spirituality in bringing the project together. He wrote, “As we celebrate “World folklore day” today, me, Deepak, DVD & everyone at TVF is so excited to bring an Indian Folklore story inspired from Real Temples of India on the big screen…from going to Shakti temple with my Mom & Wife to bringing the story of this Folklore thriller with all spiritual women in my life… I feel truly blessed to unveil Vvaan starring @sidmalhotra @tamannaahspeaks @whosunilgrover @manieshpaul @anupsoni3 and @shweta.tiwari to all of you soon,” he concluded.
Arunabh further shared a picture with Ektaa Kapoor from Mumbai’s Sidhivinayak Temple and wrote, “@ektarkapoor, Our love for stories and temples coming together on the big screen. #WorldFolkloreDay.”
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest brings together Balaji Motion Pictures and TVF Motion Pictures, along with 11.11 Production. The film stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles, with Sunil Grover, Maniesh Paul, Anup Soni and Shweta Tiwari also part of the cast.
Written by Arunabh Kumar and directed by Deepak Mishra, the film features Manu Anand as DOP and Visual Director. It is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari.
