A 27-year-old man died by suicide after jumping in front of a train in Rajasthan’s Jaipur district, shortly after sharing a video on social media in which he blamed his parents and brother for his death.
“Hello, this is Vikas Kaushik. Today, I am going to die because of my depression. My family members, including my parents and my brother, are responsible for my mental condition,” the victim was heard saying.
Sources close to the development told India Today that Vikas worked at a hotel in the city’s Chomu area. Around 11 am on Wednesday, he shared the video on his social media account.
Apart from holding his family members responsible, the victim also spoke about his name and address in the video. He also mentioned that other than his parents, no one else is responsible for his condition.
His family came to know about the video soon and immediately contacted the local police to intervene in the situation. They lodged a complaint, and the police started looking for the man.
It came to light that around half an hour after the complaint was made, Vikas reached the station and jumped in front of the train. He died on the spot.
The GRP personnel reached the spot as soon as they learnt about the incident. They recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem.
As part of the investigation, the police are now examining the video. They are also verifying the allegations made by the victim against his family member.
