A lot of focus has been on the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback situation. But there have been areas of injury concern as well. Included in the mix is Carson Schwesinger, who got an encouraging update after a training camp scare, according to a post on X by Scott Petrak.
“Browns coach Todd Monken said they’re being cautious with LB Carson Schwesinger. Hope he returns to practice next week. Been out with an injury.”
Schwesinger turned in an impressive rookie season in 2025. He earned the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award after totaling 156 tackles. He also had 11 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and nine quarterback hits.

It’s quite a stretch at this stage of his career, but Schwesinger has drawn comparisons to Hall of Famer Luke Kuechly, according to ESPN.
“He’s [Luke] Kuechly reincarnated,” a personnel executive with an NFL team said. “Elite speed, athleticism, instincts, ball skills.”
Schwesinger tried to take the comparison in stride, according to brownszone.com.
“It’s always great to be compared to players who you look up to, but at the same time I’ve played one year,” Schwesinger said. “And so really the goal is just to keep stacking years, stacking days and just try and get better every day I show up and every game I play.”
But Monken saw it clearly.
“First off, let’s pull back a little on Luke Kuechly who, to me, is one of the all-time greats,” Monken said. “I love Carson, please, that’s not on him. But, wow, that dude. I know Carson will get there. But Luke Kuechly was a complete pain in the a**. Calling out what you’re doing in your checks, he listened to the audio and pointed out, ‘they’re going right,’ and most of the time he was right. That guy was fantastic.
“Carson is headed in that direction. He’s not as vocal right now, because of being sure of himself in terms of what we’re doing, but in terms of how he plays, how he attacks the game and being all over the field, it’s very similar.”
