Assam is battling one of its worst flood crises in decades. Millions of people have been forced from their homes. Entire villages have been cut off by rising waters. Roads have disappeared, communication networks have broken down, and reaching those who are stranded has become an enormous challenge.
Yet, even in the midst of this devastation, ordinary people are stepping forward to help. Among them is 22-year-old content creator Produnaya Chutia, who has turned his social media earnings into a lifeline for flood-affected families across the state.
Reaching villages others couldn’t
Every day, Produnaya and his team set out in boats to reach villages isolated by floodwaters. But the journey often doesn’t end there.
In one village, Bhadora, the team arrived to distribute relief supplies, only to discover another settlement hidden even deeper inside that had received no assistance at all.
When boats can no longer move forward, Produnaya continues on foot, walking for hours through chest-deep water and thick mud. Sometimes, he even swims to reach stranded families waiting for help.
With almost no phone network, washed-away roads, limited boats, expensive transport and fuel shortages, every relief trip demands persistence. Still, the team continues to push ahead.
Turning content into community support
In just 10 days, Produnaya and his volunteers reached more than 16 villages, supporting over 1,000 families with essential supplies including food, drinking water, medicines, school materials and tarpaulins.

For him, this mission is deeply personal.
Growing up as the son of a farmer, Produnaya witnessed his parents work tirelessly through financial hardship. He understands what it means to struggle for school fees and necessities, experiences that shaped his commitment to helping others during times of crisis.
Today, instead of using his earnings from content creation for himself, he channels them into relief efforts for families trying to recover from the floods.
Looking beyond immediate relief
While delivering emergency supplies remains the immediate priority, Produnaya hopes to do more than provide short-term support. His long-term dream is to help flood-affected families rebuild their homes and regain a sense of stability after the waters recede.
