From Mining Belt to Classrooms

From Mining Belt to Classrooms

When schools disappeared, childhood disappeared with them. 📚❤️

In Jharkhand’s mining belt, many children were forced to choose between education and survival. While countless families migrated in search of better opportunities, one engineer made a very different decision.

Nitesh Kumar came back.

Instead of building a career elsewhere, he invested his own savings, took loans, and created an 11,000 sq. ft. school to ensure children in his hometown wouldn’t have to give up on their dreams.

Today, through Nav Gurukul, 200+ children—many of them first-generation learners—are receiving quality education in an environment built on hope, opportunity, and dignity. And all of it is made accessible for just ₹800 a month.

His story reminds us that real change doesn’t always begin with policies—it often begins with one person who decides to return and make a difference.
