Julia Donaldson’s Zog heads to ABC Kids with new animated series this August
ABC Kids will add another Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler adaptation to its line-up next month, with the new animated series Zog set to premiere for Australian audiences.
The series follows Doctor Princess Pearl, Sir Gadabout the Great and their dragon companion Zog as they travel across the land helping an array of unusual patients.

According to ABC, the comedy adventure sees the trio treating fantastical creatures including ogres sprouting mushrooms and unicorns experiencing acute anxiety.
Each new case puts their skills to the test. While the team does not always work together seamlessly, ABC says they learn to become better doctors while helping to improve the health and happiness of their community.
The series expands the animated world established by the International Emmy-winning special Zog, released in 2018, and its follow-up, Zog and the Flying Doctors, which debuted in 2020.
The new production is made by Magic Light Pictures in association with BBC Studios Kids & Family, with BBC Studios responsible for global sales.
The series was commissioned in the United Kingdom by the BBC and in Germany by ZDF.
The stories created by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler have become familiar to family audiences, with many of their screen adaptations combining adventure, humour and gentle lessons for younger viewers.
Zog premieres on ABC Kids and ABC iview at 6.25pm on Saturday 22 August.
