Sydney FC striker Victor Campuzano has been ruled out for several months after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during training.
The 29-year-old Spaniard sustained the injury in training after landing awkwardly, with the bad news ultimately confirmed following medical assessment.
Campuzano will now return to Spain to undergo surgery before then beginning his rehabilitation in a bid to get himself fit for the second half of the Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The injury is a significant setback for the striker, who joined Sydney FC ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and helped the Sky Blues reach the Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final.
He has made 24 appearances for the club and is entering the final year of his contract.
Despite the disappointment, Campuzano vowed to approach his recovery positively.
“It’s one of those things that can happen to any footballer and, unfortunately, this time it’s my turn,” Campuzano said.
“Of course, I’m disappointed because I was looking forward to the new season, but now my focus is on recovering as well as I can and coming back stronger.
“I want to thank my team-mates, the coaching staff and especially the Sydney FC medical team for all the support they’ve given me since it happened. It has meant a lot and I’m grateful to everyone at the club.”
Head coach Patrick Kisnorbo said the entire club was behind the Spanish forward as he begins his recovery.
“It’s devastating news for Victor because he was working extremely hard and was looking forward to making an impact this year,” Kisnorbo said.
“Everyone at the club wishes him the very best with his surgery and recovery.
“Victor is a fantastic person to have around the group. He’s got a really likeable personality, he’s popular with everyone at Sky Park and we’ll certainly miss having him around the training ground.”
