In the last few months, more cocktail and wine bars have been popping up around Adelaide’s CBD, and we’re far from mad about it.
After all, what could be better than finding a new favourite for the weekly Friday night knock-off ritual?
Located on Gilbert Place, Poster Boy Bar may be the new spot where Friday night drinks turn into, “Let’s hit the dance floor.”
Opening just last week, the new multi-level bar offers city views, cocktails, music on vinyl and midnight conversations.
Poster Boy was created around the idea that the best nights are often the ones that are not planned. They are the nights that begin with “just one drink” before unexpectedly turning into something much bigger.
The team wanted to capture the anticipation of getting ready for a great night out, from the music and energy to the people within the best friend group chat.
“We wanted to create a space that captures the feeling of getting ready for a great night out; the excitement, the music, the energy and the people you share it with,” a spokesperson from the team said.
“A place where guests can come to enjoy a drink, discover a new soundtrack and feel like the main character of the night.”
The team said the bar is specifically designed for long nights, late afternoons and everything else that comes between.
“Think city views, cocktails, music, a carefully curated record collection and a deck under the stars,” they said.
“It’s a place where you can drop in for a drink after work, settle in for the evening and let the night take its own direction.”
Inside, a personal record collection will have the feet tapping with a soundtrack that evolves as the evening unfolds.
“It’s relaxed, energetic and a little unexpected.”
The menu offers a range of wines, beers and seltzers, but cocktails are naturally the main event.
Their signature drink, The Poster Boy, is a refreshing mix of whiskey, elderflower liqueur, lychee juice, lime, honey and orange bitters. While another, Pin Up Girl, features vodka, lychee juice and liqueur with a sweet hit of vanilla syrup.
From Friday to Sunday the kitchen is also open for the much-needed snacks that disappear all too quickly from the centre of the table. Think marinated olives, beer battered chips, calamari with homemade aioli, paella croquettes, wings, meatballs and more.
“The goal is simple. You walk in feeling good and leave with a night worth talking about.”
We’re all for achieving goals and this sounds like one we can tick off the list very soon.
