The person was “acting suspiciously” and matched the description of a person who snuck into Harvard’s Lowell House.

The person who snuck into a Harvard residential house Tuesday night and attacked a student apparently tried to do the same at a Massachusetts Institute of Technology dorm, university police said.

MIT police responded to Sidney-Pacific, a residence hall on Pacific Street in Cambridge, just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after a student reported that an unknown male had followed her into a side entrance to the building at around 5:45 p.m.

The person was “acting suspiciously,” MIT police said, and matched the description of a person who snuck into Harvard University’s Lowell House.

As the Harvard victim entered their room, police said the person “approached from behind, covered the victim’s mouth, and attempted to force the victim into the room” around 5:30 p.m.

The person fled the area after the victim screamed, the Harvard alert said. The victim was not injured.

MIT police released an image of the alleged perpetrator, describing him as a white male, 5-feet-9-inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored shorts, police said.

Anyone who sees the man or has any information about the incident should call MIT police, the department said.
