For the fourth straight game, Boston Legacy FC conceded the opening goal Friday, yet still managed to get a result. This time, it added an extra degree of difficulty, playing reduced to 10 players following a 41st-minute red card to Bianca St-Georges.

Amanda Gutierres converted a penalty kick midway through the second half to give the Legacy a 1-1 tie with Bay FC at San Jose, Calif., on Friday night. The draw stretched the expansion club’s unbeaten run to five games at 2-0-3.

Playing for the third time in six days, Boston (2-5-3, 9 points) was on the defensive for much of the contest. Bay (3-3-2, 11 points), which hadn’t played since Sunday, had the better of possession, a 19-8 edge in shot attempts, and 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Dorian Bailey gave the hosts the lead in the 51st minute. She worked a quick give-and-go with Karlie Lema, taking a touch wide to her left and sliding a shot toward the far post.

Bay goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz gave the Legacy the penalty kick when she fouled Aïssata Traoré in the middle of the box as Traoré tried to redirect a cross from Nichelle Prince.

Gutierres, whose stoppage-time penalty Tuesday night gave the Legacy a victory over Orlando, sent Silkowitz in the wrong direction to tie the game.

Legacy goalkeeper Casey Murphy made eight saves, including one in stoppage time to ensure Boston got something to show for its cross-country trip.

Gutierres had the best opportunity to score during the run of play, shooting off the top of the crossbar off a cross from Prince.

The Legacy are now off for a week, next playing May 22 against the Seattle Reign in the first of seven dates at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I.
