Shedeur Sanders endorsed by team legend

The Cleveland Browns watched Shedeur Sanders complete his degree then celebrate his graduation from Colorado. Now the 2025 NFL Draft fifth rounder can shift focus toward competing for the starting quarterback reins. Sanders earned some huge backing Wednesday from franchise legend Bernie Kosar.

The past playoffs QB for Cleveland fully endorses Sanders as QB1 for the team moving forward. Kosar shared why via Yahoo! Sports daily.

“I really enjoyed how Shedeur played at the end of last season,” Kosar began. “Us quarterbacks get a lot of credit, or too much credit when we win. Then too much blame when we lose. Not trying to be mean or get into trouble, but in the spirit of levity, we were very void of talent with the Browns on offense last season.”

Kosar saw how Sanders lifted the play of others during his late season run as starter.

“For Shedeur to come in as a rook with a limited talented roster around him offensively, he certainly made plays,” Kosar said. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shedeur get this opportunity early if he doesn’t come out as the game one starter.”

Kosar certainly can sympathize with Sanders about operating with less. The 1987 Pro Bowler played on Browns teams that underachieved including in the early 1990s. Cleveland eventually cut him during the 1993 season before landing with the Dallas Cowboys. That move came two years before Shedeur’s father Deion Sanders joined the franchise.

DeShaun Watson remains the early favorite to win the Browns’ starting spot. Head coach Todd Monken likes Sanders’ potential, though. Now Kosar is a full-on believer in the second-year passer.
