Person killed in Mattapan shooting, 2 others shot in Dorchester overnight Saturday

One man was killed in a Mattapan shooting, while two others were shot just hours later in a separate shooting in Dorchester, police said.

Police are investigating two separate shootings that killed one person and injured two others on Saturday and early Sunday morning in Boston, in a weekend that saw at least five people shot in Boston neighborhoods.

The first shooting occurred in Mattapan on Saturday night, the Boston Police Department posted.  At 11:39 p.m., officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound outside 28 Woolson St.

First responders pronounced the man dead on scene, police said.

At 2:06 a.m. Sunday, police were notified of a person shot at 255 Geneva Ave. in Dorchester, Boston police told Boston.com.

Officers found two people who had been shot near the intersection of Geneva Avenue and Everton Street, police wrote.

Both victims were taken to nearby hospitals for further treatment, police said. 

The two shootings are currently under investigation, police said.

No arrests have been made in the Dorchester shooting, BPD said.

The Boston Police Department did not clarify if an arrest had been made in connection to the Mattapan shooting.

Police strongly urge anyone with information regarding the Mattapan shooting to call the Homicide Unit at (617) 343- 4470, police said.

A double shooting in Dorchester Sunday night left two people injured, one seriously, police said.
