A woman was transported to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, while a man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Two people were hospitalized after a shooting on Kingsdale Street in Dorchester Sunday night, police said.

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots at 69 Kingsdale St. around 6:40 p.m., a Boston police spokesperson said, where two people were found with apparent gunshot wounds.

A woman was transported to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, while a man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

“We are canvassing the area, looking for witnesses, looking for video, and we’re encouraging anyone that knows anything about this, witnessed anything, or knows anything about it, to contact the homicide unit,” Superintendent Paul McLaughlin told reporters at the scene.

Police believe there is no danger to the public, and McLaughlin said the incident “was more directed, as opposed to something that people in the neighborhood should be concerned about specifically.”

Boston police homicide detectives are investigating the double shooting, and the Kingsdale Street address remains an active crime scene, police said around 8 p.m.

No arrests have been made, police said Sunday night.
