One of Adelaide Central Market’s most familiar catch up spots, The Big Table preparing for a major renovation after three decades of coffee, food, memories and familiar faces.
The long-running Market favourite has shared that it will close its current space for renovation for around three to four months. The announcement, is marking a major refresh for the venue which has become a rhythm with the Market for locals, workers, shoppers and regulars.
“After 30 years of memories, coffee, and conversations, it’s time for a new chapter,” The Big Table shared.
Although they’ll be closing for renovations, this doesn’t mean they’ll be disappearing entirely. The team has confirmed they’ll be operating from a nearby site while the works take place.
“We’ll be closing for renovation for around three to four months but we’re not going far.”
“You can still find us at Stall 23–24 during this time.”
For many Adelaide Central Market regulars, The Big Table has never just been about grabbing breakfast, coffee or lunch. It has long been one of those classic Market spots where people stop, sit, chat and feel part of the bustle around them.
Over the years, it has become known for its generous breakfasts, fresh rolls, salads, coffee and casual, counter-style dining, but its real place in the Market comes from the people who return again and again.
The renovation marks a significant moment at a time when the Market itself is thriving, with renovations allowing it to double in size and being named one of the best in the world.

That sense of home is what has made The Big Table such a recognisable part of the Central Market experience. Among the fruit and veg stalls, speciality traders, bakeries, butchers, cafes and eateries, it has become a place where customers can pause in the middle of the Market rush and feel like they are somewhere familiar.
While the renovation will temporarily change where customers find the team, the heart of The Big Table appears to be staying firmly in place.

The Big Table will be located at stall 23–24 during the renovation period, with works expected to run for around three to four months.
