Steve Smith Sr. floats trade idea after Cleveland drafts 2 WRs

The Cleveland Browns have added a lot of talent during the 2026 NFL Draft. Cleveland added multiple playmakers on the offensive side of the ball during the first three rounds. But the Browns are now subject to trade rumors after adding multiple players at one position.

Former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. floated the possibility of a trade after Cleveland selected two wide receivers in the draft.

“Not say who but 2 WR’s drafted somebody will be hiring a moving company sooner,” Smith wrote on social media on Friday.

Smith made his post shortly after the Browns drafted Denzel Boston with the 39th overall pick in the draft. Cleveland had previously spent a first-round pick on Texas A&M receiver KC Concepcion.

Cleveland is not obligated to move a player simply because they selected two guys as the same position. On paper, there is plenty of room for Boston and Concepcion to coexist with Cleveland’s existing wide receivers.

Jerry Jeudy is the top wide receiver for the Browns, followed by Cedric Tillman and Isaiah Bond. But to Smith’s point, the Browns have several other receivers on the roster already including Malchi Corley, Jamari Thrash, Tylan Wallace, and others.

It is hard to imagine the Browns wanting to trade Bond. Remember, Cleveland signed him to a three-year contract just before the 2025 season. He rewarded the Browns with a solid rookie season, hauling in 18 receptions for 338 receiving yards.

Ultimately, it seems that Cleveland wants to give themselves as many options as possible at wide receiver in 2026. If the team does end up trading a wide receiver, it may happen during training camp or closer to the regular season.

It will be interesting to see if the Browns add even more wide receivers on Day 3 of the draft.
