Peshawar Zalmi Star Batter Achieves Historic PSL Milestone

Peshawar Zalmi’s Kusal Mendis has achieved a major milestone in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), becoming the fastest player in league history to reach 500 runs.

The milestone was achieved during Zalmi’s emphatic win over Quetta Gladiators at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, where the team registered a massive 118-run victory.

The Sri Lankan batter reached the landmark in just 12 innings, setting a new benchmark in the competition. Mendis now leads the list of players with the fewest innings to 500 PSL runs.

Previously, the record was jointly held by Luke Ronchi, Usman Khan, and Rassie van der Dussen, all of whom reached the milestone in 13 innings.

Quetta Gladiators opted to field first after winning the toss, but the decision quickly backfired as Zalmi’s batters dominated from the outset.

Peshawar Zalmi posted a huge 255-3 in 20 overs, the third-highest total in PSL history, powered by Babar Azam’s unbeaten 100 off 52 balls.

Mendis played a key role in the innings, scoring 83 off 44 balls and sharing a 135-run partnership with Babar Azam. Despite picking up a wicket each, Usman Tariq, Abrar Ahmed, and Alzarri Joseph were unable to contain the flow of runs.

Zalmi accelerated further by adding 76 runs in the final five overs before bowling out Quetta Gladiators for 137 in 18.1 overs, sealing a comprehensive 118-run win.

Kusal Mendis has been in scorching form throughout PSL 2026, smashing runs at a strike rate north of 169 while maintaining an average around 50.

His performances have included multiple high-scoring knocks, including a stunning century and consistent match-winning contributions that have propelled Peshawar Zalmi up the standings.
