Venezuela | Write Out Loud

The black of my eyes glimpse

speechless when the gun ascends

in front of my eyelashes

and the dark of my hair

Greed is the weapon

consumes everything in the land of abuse,

nothing escapes

this great farce

Indifference rose early,

turned on the ambiguous;

fallen to a minuscule state

a bereft citizen,

senselessly let himself be vexed

Surrounded by merciless faces,

expressions of hatred multiplied a thousandfold,

brothers and family

separated and broken

Night drowns life

with lightning flashes of rancor;

misery drowns the homeland

and the aurora dawns weeping

bearing voices of pain

The earth does not open to sow seeds

it remains open to deposit the prayers of

the mother of a son who has died,

to bury the supplications of the hungry,

to cover those who no longer have a voice

We are so different from what we were yesterday…..

in vain were all the things I cried out,

that passed through my fingers

remaining between the folds of some paper

My country, Venezuela,

that some called the branch of heaven,

is dressed in mourning…
