Philadelphia’s event calendar heats up as the week heads toward the weekend, with theater premieres, family-friendly activities and plenty of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations across the city.
The stage lights up Tuesday when “TINA: The Tina Turner Musical” opens at the Miller Theater, where it runs through Sunday with a high-energy tribute to the life and music of the Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll.

By the weekend, the lineup expands with several family-friendly events on Saturday, including Pi Day at The Franklin Institute. It’s also the final chance to catch “Mermaids” at Adventure Aquarium, which continues through Sunday.
Saturday also brings several food and drink events around town, including Stouts and Snouts in Fishtown, which pairs craft beer with barbecue, and the Northern Liberties Espresso Martini Crawl, where participating bars will serve creative versions of the caffeinated cocktail.
Also debuting Saturday is Ministry of Awe, a mysterious new attraction opening in Old City.
The week culminates Sunday with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, one of the city’s largest annual celebrations of Irish heritage.
