Pakistan to Host Indus AI Week 2026 to Showcase National Artificial Intelligence Potential

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has announced the launch of its mega, nationwide initiative; i.e. Indus AI Week 2026; under the Anchored in the Prime Minister’s Digital Pakistan vision for a future-ready economy.

The initiative will take place from February 9 to February 15, 2026, culminating in a flagship summit at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.

The week-long event aims to position Pakistan as a formidable player in the global Artificial Intelligence ecosystem, bringing together policymakers, global tech giants, academia and the country’s burgeoning startup community.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has termed the event a pivotal moment for Pakistan’s economic transformation.

In his message regarding the initiative, the Prime Minister emphasized that Artificial Intelligence is no longer a futuristic concept; but, a present-day necessity for governance and industrial growth.

It is pertinent to note that vision of the PM of Pakistan is to transition Pakistan from a consumer of technology to a global hub of innovation; and, Indus AI Week is not just an event; it is a declaration that Pakistan is ready to integrate AI into agriculture, healthcare, and finance to drive efficiency and transparency.

“We are committed to equipping our youth with world-class skills to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” the PM stated.

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication (MoITT), Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, highlighted that the government’s focus has shifted from policy formulation to practical adoption. She invited international investors to explore Pakistan’s untapped digital potential.

“With Indus AI Week, we are moving beyond dialogue to tangible adoption,” Federal Minister IT&Telecom Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja said. “By connecting our more than 25,000 IT graduates produced annually with global AI leaders, we are building a sustainable ecosystem aligned with the Digital Nation Pakistan Vision.”

She added that the week-long engagement would position ‘Tech Destination Pakistan’ as a credible global hub where ethical, scalable AI solutions are developed for the world, reinforcing Pakistan’s ambition to emerge as a competitive digital economy driven by innovation, talent, and trust.

Indus AI Week 2026 will feature a focused set of flagship programs driving real-world AI adoption, including AI for HER to address gender incluivity in the AI economy, E-Sports & Gaming to position gaming as a high-value digital export, and a Technology & Innovation Hub connecting talent with capital, policy, and markets.

The week will also showcase AR/VR & Robotics for scalable training and industrial use, a GovTech & DefenceTech Showcase for AI-enabled governance, an Industry Expo with on-spot interviews, a National AI Training Bootcamp, and Uraan AI Techathon 1.0, collectively advancing Pakistan from AI potential to AI impact.

Mr. Muhammad Zohaib Khan, former Chairman P@SHA and an active contributor to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) initiatives in the IT sector, welcomed the initiative as a major milestone for the private-sector.

“Indus AI Week represents the synergy between the government’s facilitation and the private sector’s innovation,” said Mr. Zohaib Khan. “The Pakistani IT industry has already proven its mettle by achieving record exports. Now, with the backing of SIFC and platforms like this, we are ready to scale our intellectual property in Generative AI and Deep Tech.
