Abigail Throckmorton, 23, faces a homicide charge in connection to a fatal crash on Turnpike Road in February, prosecutors said.

An Ashland woman faces a homicide charge for her role in a fatal car crash in Southborough earlier this year.

Abigail Throckmorton, 23, is charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and negligent operation of a vehicle. She also is accused of several civil infractions: a marked lanes violation, speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to notify the Registry of Motor Vehicles of an address change, and driving the wrong way on a state highway, court documents show.

Throckmorton pleaded not guilty to all charges, court records show.

She was released on a personal recognizance with the conditions that she remains sober, stays within state lines, and does not drive a vehicle, prosecutors said.

Just before 3 a.m. on February 20, Throckmorton was driving her Subaru on the wrong side road on Turnpike Road (Route 9 East), police wrote in a statement of facts.

Turnpike Road has a posted speed limit of 50 miles per hour. Throckmorton was allegedly traveling at 70 miles per hour, the document said.

Throckmorton allegedly nearly hit a white Jeep Wrangler, but the Jeep was able to move out of the way on time, Southborough police wrote.

Throckmorton then allegedly crashed into a Nissan head on, claiming the life of the driver, Crystal Johnson-Clementi, 37, police wrote.

Johnson-Clementi, a Leominster resident, left behind a husband and son and was a cancer survivor, her loved ones wrote in her obituary and an online fundraiser.

Throckmorton is scheduled to return to court on June 30 for a pretrial hearing, court records show.

An attorney for Throckmorton did not respond to a request for comment Sunday evening.
