Amy Asker, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the DA announced.
A woman was hit and killed along a New Bedford road on Thursday morning, the local DA announced.
Around 10:10 a.m. on Thursday, police found Amy Asker, 67, lying in the roadway near 79 Mill St. in New Bedford, prosecutors said.
Asker suffered from a “significant injury” and was pronounced dead on scene, the office of the Bristol County District Attorney said in a press release.
Police found a tractor trailer just up ahead of Asker. The driver remained on scene and was “cooperative with law enforcement,” the DA’s office said.
“An initial investigation revealed the decedent had taken a cab back to her residence on Mill Street just prior to the accident,” prosecutors said.
Video footage shows Asker wandering into the road as the tractor trailer drove by, the local DA said.
State Police and New Bedford police are investigating the crash, the DA said.
