The Patriots set their 53-man roster over the weekend, but as everyone knows, the “final roster” is a misnomer.
With placements on injured reserve, waiver claims and free-agent signings, front offices continue to tinker with the edges of their roster in the days following cutdown day. In that regard, the Patriots have had a busy start to their week.
The work continued Tuesday, when backup interior offensive lineman Ben Brown re-signed with the team. Brown was a surprise cut on Monday, but reports immediately surfaced that the transaction was merely procedural and that the 28-year-old would be rejoining the team shortly.
Brown’s re-signing was announced Tuesday afternoon along with the addition of rookie linebacker Erick Hunter to the 53-man roster. Hunter signed with the Lions this past spring after he went undrafted out of Morgan State, where he recorded 298 total tackles in 45 games from 2021-25.
Those moves were announced with several practice squad signings: linebacker K.J. Britt, defensive tackle Jalen Hunt, offensive lineman Jake Kubas and linebacker Jose Ramirez.
Earlier, the Patriots claimed tight end Cameron Latu and linebacker Darius Muasau off waivers and placed punter Bryce Baringer and rookie linebacker Khalil Jacobs on injured reserve.
