The provisional answer key for UGC-NET 2026 has been released on Saturday (August 16, 2026), the National Testing Agency (NTA) said, adding that the challenge window is open for two days.
The agency said that challenges will be accepted online only, through the official portal at https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
The deadline for challenges and fee payment is 11.59 p.m. on Tuesday (August 18, 2026). ₹200 will be charged per question challenged.
“Each challenge must be supported by documentary evidence. Challenges received through any other mode will not be entertained,” the agency said in a post on X.
A separate public notice is due today with respect to three remaining subjects — English, Commerce and Sociology. “A Committee was constituted to examine the complaints received regarding various types of errors in the question papers. Based on the recommendations of the Committee, a separate Public Notice concerning these three subjects is being issued later today,” the NTA said in the same post.
The agency also advised candidates to rely only on information published on the official website and NTA’s verified social media handles
It said the provisional answer keys for CSIR-NET have also be published on its website.

UGC-NET is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for the posts of Assistant Professor and admission to PhD programmes. The examination consists of two papers: Paper I, which includes 50 questions on teaching aptitude, reasoning ability, and general awareness, and Paper II, which contains 100 subject-related multiple-choice questions.
The Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 examination were held on July 17 and 18 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode to determine the eligibility for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as assistant professor, and admission to Ph.D. programmes in institutions across India.
