The UAE sailing team has left for Sanya, China, for the 6th Asian Beach Games, which run from April 22 to 30.
The squad is made up of five sailors. Marwa Al Hammadi, Elyazia Al Hammadi and Abdulla Al Zubaidi will race in the ILCA 4 class, while Mohamed Al Mehairi and Khalifa Al Romaithi will compete in the Optimist event.
Mohammed Al Obaidli, secretary general of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, said the team had completed its preparations with a final training camp in Morocco.
He said the aim is to challenge for medals in China.
The team’s selection shows the federation’s continued push to build the UAE’s presence in international sailing, with a mix of young sailors given the chance to compete on a major Asian stage.
