UAE Muay Thai team lands six world medals

The UAE National Muay Thai Team finished as the leading Arab and Asian nation at the 2026 IFMA Senior World Championships in Kuala Lumpur after winning six medals.

The team claimed three golds and three silvers, which placed the UAE fifth in the overall world rankings.

Mohamed Mardi led the campaign with gold in the 67kg division. He was also named Best Athlete of the Tournament in Category A, one of the main individual awards at the event.

Emad Yousef won gold in the 86kg category, while Ayoub Al Barnousi also took gold at 67kg.

The UAE’s silver medals came through Mohamed Touizi at 54kg, Yassine Karimi at 60kg, and Salama Al Junaidi in the women’s Under-24 +75kg division.

The national team has built its recent progress around long training camps, overseas sparring, and regular domestic competition.

Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, President of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, said:

“Six medals, the top of the Arab and Asian standings, and fifth in the world. These are not isolated results. They are the outcome of years of disciplined preparation, of investment in coaching and refereeing, and of a competition system built to produce athletes ready for the highest levels of the sport.”

“Mohamed Mardi’s Best Athlete recognition is a moment of real pride for UAE Muay Thai, and a sign of where we are heading.”
