The UAE delegation took part in the opening ceremony of the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, on Tuesday.
The ceremony was held at Yasha Park Theatre and was built around three themed segments: Passion of Sea and Sky, Dreams in the Deep Sea, and Connecting with the World.
Hamid Al Baloushi, captain of the UAE beach football team, carried the national flag during the parade alongside sailor Marwa Al Hammadi.
The Games run until April 30 and bring together 1,790 athletes from 45 Asian National Olympic Committees.
They will compete in 14 sports across 62 events.
The UAE has sent a team of 31 athletes, who will compete in four disciplines. That includes jiu-jitsu, with the country part of one of Asia’s biggest beach multi-sport events.
