Two icons collide as BATMAN takes over Sydney Opera House

Sydney’s most famous sails had an unexpected visitor on Saturday night, with Batman appearing on top of the Opera House as part of this year’s Batman Day celebrations.

The Dark Knight brought one of pop culture’s most recognisable characters together with one of Australia’s most recognisable landmarks in a striking Sydney Harbour appearance.

The sighting even sparked speculation that it could be connected to The Batman Part II, which is currently filming in London, but it was ultimately revealed to be part of the Batman Day campaign.

So, who knew Batman Day was a thing?

The annual celebration takes place on the third Saturday of September, with fans around the world marking the occasion through events, comics, merchandise and other Batman-themed activities.

This year’s celebrations are being held under the theme “Rule the Night”, drawing on Batman’s association with protecting Gotham after dark.

In Australia, the celebrations extend beyond the Opera House, with a new DC Brand Store launching on Amazon Australia, along with new Batman-inspired products and collectibles.

And for fans wanting to keep the celebrations going at home, HBO Max has Batman films and series available to stream alongside other DC content.
