If you didn’t think that the Eagles were definitely planning to trade wide receiver A.J. Brown come June 1st — it may be time to be convinced after the Eagles selected former USC wide receiver Makai Lemon on Thursday night with the 20th overall pick.
In order to pull off this feat — the Eagles traded with the Dallas Cowboys and jumped in front of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Draft hosted in their own city to take Lemon with the 20th selection. Lemon was actually on the phone with Pittsburgh Steelers leadership when he was told that it would be the Eagles who were drafting him.
It turns out that the second phone call is the one to take.
A former Pop Warner national champion — Lemon was an All-American on Max Preps and as well as an Under Armour All-American. In three seasons he had over 137 receptions and 2,000 yards. He was a unanimous All-American and a Fred Biletnikoff Award Winner in 2025.
Lemon joins a wide receiver room that includes Devonta Smith, Elijah Moore, Johnny Wilson, Hollywood Brown, Devonta Wicks, Danny Gray, Britain Covey, Quez Watkins, Darius Cooper, and for the moment — AJ Brown. Both his speed and agility will add yet another weapon for Jalen Hurts.
With off-season activities starting this week in anticipation of the 2026 season-opening in September — the Eagles now have another 1st Round Draft selection in the Novacare Complex. Right before Signed right before Easter by Philadelphia was former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka — who was a 2021 selection with the number 32 overall pick for the World Champions. In 2025 — he spent time with both the Cleveland Browns and also the Chicago Bears.
