The two elderly residents were flown to a hospital after the crash on Walden Street in Concord, officials said. Three others were injured.

Two Concord residents in their 80s died Saturday in a head-on crash that injured three other people, authorities announced.

The crash, which occurred on Walden Street, caused the deaths of John Hamilton, 82, and Paula Hamilton, 85, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office said.

Police and firefighters responded to the intersection of Walden Street and Bristers Hill Road at about 1 p.m. Saturday. They found a Honda Accord and a Tesla Model 3 that had been involved in a crash.

Investigators believe that the Honda and Tesla were traveling in opposite directions on Walden Street when the Honda allegedly crossed the double yellow line and struck the Tesla head-on, according to Ryan’s office.

John Hamilton was driving the Tesla at the time of the crash, and Paula Hamilton was riding in the front passenger seat. The Hamiltons were both flown to Lahey Hospital in Burlington, where they later died from their injuries.

Two other passengers, identified only as 28-year-olds from Tacoma, Washington, were in the Tesla at the time. They were both transported to a local hospital with injuries. One of the Tesla passengers has since been released, and the other remained hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, officials said.

The driver of the Honda was identified as a 25-year-old man from Wilmington. He was also transported to a local hospital, where he remained as of Tuesday evening.

Ryan’s office and Concord police are conducting an ongoing investigation with assistance from State Police.
