Tina Fey to host launch episode of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE UK

Tina Fey will host the first ever episode of Saturday Night Live UK, leading the launch of the iconic sketch format’s British debut.

The Emmy winning comedy powerhouse, heading to HBO Max Australia later this month, returns to the franchise she helped shape in the US, this time opening the curtain on its UK adaptation.

The premiere will also feature chart topping indie band Wet Leg as the episode’s musical guest.

Fey’s involvement headlines the first slate of hosts revealed for the series, which will bring a rotating lineup of performers to the stage alongside SNL UK’s inaugural cast.

Actor Jamie Dornan will host the second episode with musical guest Wolf Alice, followed by Academy Award winner Riz Ahmed hosting a third instalment with rock band Kasabian.

Each 75 minute episode will feature a different host joining the newly assembled cast including Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.

Behind the scenes, longtime SNL creator Lorne Michaels serves as executive producer, with James Longman as lead producer, Liz Clare directing and Daran Jonno Johnson acting as head writer.

Saturday Night Live UK premieres in Australia on HBO Max on Monday, March 23.
