A New Chapter Awaits
One of the busiest offseasons in recent memory has been experienced by the Philadelphia 76ers. The team has drastically changed its roster through trades, free agency, and the NBA Draft under new President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey.
Even though a large portion of the offseason work has already been finished, there are still a number of crucial issues that need to be resolved before training camp starts. These three narratives could determine Philadelphia’s course for the 2026–2027 NBA season.
How Will Jaylen Brown Fit Alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey?
The acquisition of Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics was unquestionably the biggest offseason move. Building rapport with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey will be one of the team’s top priorities, even if Brown is a proven All-Star who can affect both sides of the floor when he gets in Philadelphia.
The three might develop into one of the most gifted cores in the Eastern Conference on paper. While Maxey’s quickness and Embiid’s dominance in the paint give Philadelphia several ways to attack opposing teams, Brown offers exceptional perimeter defense, athleticism, and another dependable scoring option.
Before the regular season starts, training camp will offer the first chance to test how quickly those three stars can build synergy.
Can Philadelphia’s Young Talent Earn Meaningful Minutes?
The Sixers will still be led by veterans, but the growth of younger players might play a significant role in the season’s narrative.
After a stellar collegiate career at Alabama, Philadelphia’s youthful group is led by first-round draft pick Labaron Philon. Although it may be unrealistic to expect a rookie to have an immediate impact, training camp and Summer League offer excellent chances for him to demonstrate his ability to contribute sooner rather than later.

It wouldn’t be shocking if Mike Gansey kept looking for ways to bolster the roster before opening night despite an active offseason.
Philadelphia could still improve frontcourt depth, bolster the bench, or add another seasoned forward. The Sixers, like all championship contenders, are always searching for ways to get better.
Philadelphia seems dedicated to creating the deepest roster possible around its great players, regardless of whether another move is made through the trade market or free agency.
The Road to Opening Night
Although the Sixers have already made significant roster changes this offseason, there is still much work to be done. The first true look at how the team’s new members fit together and whether Philadelphia has set itself up to compete with the best in the NBA will come during training camp.
As fans eagerly anticipate the beginning of another season, these three storylines will continue to be at the forefront. The Sixers are going into training camp with a fresh sense of optimism and plenty of reasons to think this club can advance further, if the offseason is any indicator.
