Three persons were killed and two were injured after the car in which they were travelling crashed into a divider at Pidagam on Tiruchi-Chennai National Highway on Sunday.
The police identified the deceased as M. Sellapandi, 55, the car driver, Selvam, 63, and Kavitha, 48, all from Palanganatham in Madurai district. The police said Selvam, his wife Selvi, 55, son Praveen, 30, and a relative Kavitha, 48, were travelling from Madurai to Chennai in the car. When they neared Pidagam, the car driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed the divider.
While Sellapandi, Selvam, and Kavitha died on the spot, Selvi and Praveen were admitted to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital for treatment. A case has been registered.
