Thomas Tuchel has given his thoughts on Harry Kane’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.
The England captain had an incredible season last year, netting 73 goals for club and country, winning the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup along the way.
He helped England finish third at the World Cup, the nation’s best finish since winning the competition 60 years ago.
Kane is the bookmakers’ favourite to win the award, with Tuchel believing he will become the first English recipient since Michael Owen in 2001.
When asked if Kane would be his choice for the accolade, Tuchel told ITV: “Yeah. After this season, yeah.
“Seventy-plus goals, three titles with Bayern Munich, semi-finals at the World Cup and in the Champions League.
“He’s getting better and better. I think he added a level of physicality to his match.
“He’s just like so committed to high press and so committed to being involved in every part of the match.

“Be it in deep build-up, be it in finishing, be it in build-up play in the middle block, be it in defending. It’s just the full package.”
Kane is already England’s all-time top scorer and will equal Peter Shilton’s men’s team record of 125 appearances if he plays all four Nations League matches.
The talisman spoke openly about enjoying life in Germany with Bayern Munich after his incredible campaign.
Kane said: “I’d be extremely proud to win it. I think I’m definitely in the running to win it, without a doubt, so time will tell, the voters will vote for who they want.

“It makes me more proud when other people talk about me, when other teammates or ex-players or whoever it is, people who compliment me on what I achieved.
“I think that makes me more proud than me trying to talk about it myself.”
Tuchel’s men play four games across the extended international break, starting with Spain on Saturday.

Three more games are scheduled, with England facing the Czech Republic on September 29.
They then go up against Croatia on October 3 and the Czechs once more on October 6.
Kick-off for Saturday is scheduled for 7:45pm, with England looking for vengeance after their Euro 2024 final defeat to World Champions Spain.
