A dozen contestants competed to see who looked most like the singer and songwriter, a New England native.

A Noah Kahan look-alike contest held Sunday in the South End attracted fans and contestants sporting long black hair, beards and guitars.

Organized by Blackbird Doughnuts, a dozen contestants competed to see who looked most like the singer and songwriter, a New England native. The contestants came in Kahan’s signature look and lip-synced his songs for a $100 prize.

With more than 60 people in the audience, they clapped along to Kahan’s top hits, including “Northern Attitude” and “Stick Season.” The Vermont folk-pop artist performed a historic sold-out four-night run in Fenway earlier this summer.

Nema Kheradmand, wearing braids and a Vermont hat, won Sunday’s contest and donated his winnings to Kahan’s mental health nonprofit, the Busyhead Project, according to the Boston Globe.

Delaney Beaudoin, head of marketing and creative at Blackbird Doughnuts and MC of the contest, said Kahan’s Fenway performances made him the perfect choice for a look-alike contest. The business also hosted a previous Bad Bunny themed look-alike contest in April.

“This has been a Noah Kahan summer,” Beaudoin said. “He had his four-day stint at Fenway and completely took over the city for what felt like two weeks. When I was trying to think of another celebrity to replicate the contest after, I thought Noah Kahan would be great.”

Blackbird Doughnuts also offered a Kahan-themed menu for the day, including a maple braid doughnut after Kahan’s signature braids.

Beaudoin said the enthusiasm for the event was “heartwarming” and she has plans for more community-focused events in the future.
