Adam Taggart departs as one of the Isuzu Ute A-League’s greatest goalscorers.
But it may only be a short wait for a current player in the league to break in to the top 10 all-time scorers.
Taggart left Perth Glory last week for an overseas move as the sixth-highest scorer in the competition’s history, 2005-present.
His 90 goals, 61 of them for Perth Glory, moved Taggart level with Archie Thompson on the all-time scorers in a tie.
With Kosa Barbarouses released on a free transfer by Western Sydney Wanderers in June and yet to land at a new club, it means no current members of the top 10 are active Isuzu Ute A-Leagues players.
The all-time top scorer Jamie Maclaren departed Melbourne City in 2024 and remains on the books of the club he joined, Mohun Bagan Super Giant in India.
The player Maclaren overtook for top spot, Besart Berisha, remains close to the A-Leagues, currently the head coach of Melbourne Victory’s senior academy team in the second tier of Victorian state football.
Bruno Fornaroli is still playing, and scoring goals for fun, having found the net 22 times for Avondale FC in NPL Victoria and won the golden boot at age 38.

There might not be a long wait for a current Isuzu Ute A-League player to break back into the top-10 all time, with Adelaide United’s Craig Goodwin on 61 goals, just two behind 10th-placed Mark Bridge.
The next highest player is some way back though, with Melbourne City’s Andrew Nabbout on 46 and then Wanderers’ Hiroshi Ibusuki on 39.
