I devoured Sterling Point in less time than I’d like to admit. But even after watching all of season one, I’m finding myself with plenty of questions. Spoiler alert – the first season ends with Annie staying on the island, Ramona leaving for New York, and Connor receiving a life-changing call. In other words, season two isn’t confirmed yet, but there’s certainly plenty of loose ends to work with.
Naturally, my mind is racing. So I thought I’d put it to good use, and lay out my predictions for what might come next. My Sterling Point season two theories, below.
Annie and Ellis finally give things a chance
This feels like a good place to start. Season one was full of general upheaval for Annie (played by Ella Rubin), so it’s not surprising that these two weren’t able to strike up a full-blown relationship. But her decision to remain on the island puts her considerably closer to Ellis, and leaves the future of their romance tantalisingly optimistic.
A second season could finally allow the two to explore what happens when the drama of this summer dies down and their relationship has to exist in real life. But of course, this is Sterling Point, so I’m not expecting it to be straightforward.
Ramona and Oona aren’t finished
Ramona leaves the island for New York to get to know her biological father, which puts a bit of a pause on her relationship with Oona.
However, a season two reunion could also force both characters to confront what they actually want from one another now that Ramona has begun building a relationship with her biological family. Please Megan Park, make it happen.
We’ll learn more about the parents
Park has hinted that there is still plenty to uncover in the adults’ histories – in particular what exactly went on before Annie, Connor and Ramona knew the truth. She has flagged Oona’s mother as a character she’d like to explore, and we’re yet to see Ramona develop a relationship with Steven, or what could happen with Annie and Connor’s biological mother.
Essentially, I’m hoping season two will spend more time filling in the gaps around the parents and the secrets they’ve kept from their children.
The fate of the island will be thrown into question again
Annie and Connor inherit the property, but its future isn’t completely settled. They have a one-year grace period before they need to decide what happens to it, leaving a convenient countdown for season two.
There could be pressure to sell and questions about development, all while Annie tries to decide whether Sterling Point is actually where she belongs.
Rory will be back
Perhaps its wishful thinking, but I have a feeling we’re not done with Rory. Maybe another summer will bring him back into Annie’s orbit? Whether that’s as a genuine romantic connection or just another member of the group remains to be seen.
