The Eagles Are Prepared For An All-In Season

Eagles

In case it wasn’t clear, the Los Angeles Rams proved that they’re preparing for another Super Bowl run.

Just before Free Agency began, the Rams traded four picks (including 29th overall) to the Chiefs for CB Trent McDuffie.

To follow that up, June 1st the Rams had some of the biggest news of all. Trading three picks, including a 2027 1st, 2028 2nd and a 2029 3rd, the Rams also added Jared Verse to the package to the Cleveland Browns to acquire Myles Garrett.

The Rams are back in a win-now position, and the Eagles could be in the same mindset.

Following The AJ Aftermath

The Eagles prepared all offseason for the departure of AJ Brown. From signing Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore. To trading for Dontayvjon Wicks, and even drafting Makai Lemon 20th overall.

Now, heading into the 2026 season. The Eagles hold 7 picks for the 2027 draft, including their 1st and 2nd as well as multiple 5th and 7th round picks. They could be expecting more once compensatory picks are given out after the 2026 season is over.

And when you look towards the 2028 draft. The Eagles currently hold all 7 of their own draft picks, as well as an extra 1st round pick courtesy of the AJ Brown trade. The last year the Eagles had multiple 1st round picks they capitalized on acquiring more picks, including a top 10 pick from the New Orleans Saints.

Additional Signings

Throughout the week the Eagles signed an additional two players during their OTAs.

Former Buffalo Bills defensive end AJ Epenesa.

After 6 years in Buffalo, Epenesa tallied 24 sacks, including 3 straight years from 22-24 with 6+, and 135 total tackles. While not a player like Miles Garrett, adding depth along the defensive line was needed during the previous year when injuries to Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter and Azeez Ojulari.

On the other side of the ball, OG Michael Jordan (no not that one) signed with the Eagles. Offensive Line depth is always welcome in Philadelphia. With injuries to multiple players last year, and a history of being able to develop the OL. Jordan will join Drew Kendall, Jake Majors, Micah Morris and Willie Lampkin competing for backup positions across offensive front.

With 3 months until the season begins. The Eagles still have plenty of time to make roster adjustments and major moves, whether that means signing available free agents like Jimmie Ward or Taylor Rapp to strengthen the secondary even more. Or swinging for the fences and trading away picks for an impactful player like Maxx Crosby.
