Steven Taylor takes charge at Desert Falcons

Steven Taylor has been appointed as Desert Falcons Football Clubs first-team manager as the Dubai club prepares to build its first senior squad.

Taylor officially started the role on June 29. His first job is to shape the senior side from scratch, with recruitment now central to the club’s next step.

The club said Taylor’s brief is to bring together players who match its playing identity and standards. It did not state which competition the first team will enter, or when the squad will play its first match.

Taylor brings recent experience in UAE football. According to the club, his managerial record includes a cup win with Gulf United, four promotions in his first four seasons in the UAE, back-to-back promotions with Al Qabila FC and an unbeaten season with Al Qabila in 2024/25.

“This is a real privilege,” Taylor said. “So much of the groundwork at Desert Falcons is already done, the culture, the values and the standards this club expects were set long before I arrived, and that is exactly what drew me here.”

“I want to add everything I’ve learned across my playing and management career to what is already in place, and build a team this city can be proud of. The pieces are here for something special, and I can’t wait to get to work.”

Aimene Redjemi, the club president, said Taylor had been chosen because of his experience and fit with the club’s approach.

“Steven was the standout candidate for this role,” Redjemi said. “His experience, his understanding of what it takes to win, and his belief in our way of doing things made him the perfect fit to lead our first team.”

Desert Falcons is based in Dubai and says its playing approach is built around earning the right to play, keeping the ball, moving it with purpose and attacking with courage.

Taylor’s appointment gives the club a clear lead figure for its move into senior football. The next measure will come when the squad is named and the club confirms where it will compete.
